To successfully earn a GCSE English Language qualification, you will need to complete a practical speaking assessment, as well as written exams. Exams take place in May and June. We will help you book your exams when you’re ready, and you will need to pay a separate fee directly to the exam centre.

- 1 hour and 45 minutes written exam
- 50% of GCSE marks
- Section A: Reading
- Section B: Writing
Paper 2: Writer’s Viewpoints and Perspectives
- 1 hour and 45 minutes written exam

Practical Speaking Assessment: Spoken Language
- Presenting, answering questions and responding to feedback in standard English.
- This assessment is teacher set, and will not change your overall GCSE English Language exam scores.

There are no entry requirements for GCSE English Language.
